Brahim’s unveils plans to enter Indonesia and Thailand

Malaysia’s Dewina Holdings, owner of food products brand Brahim’s, has revealed plans to enter Indonesia and Thailand in the next year.

According to Bernama, company executive chairman Datuk Seri Ibrahim Ahmad said the group is in the midst of complying with relevant regulations to gain approval for its products for sale in these markets. He added that the company is also eyeing Europe and the US for its product exports.

The announcement comes on the back of the company’s recent launch of its New Light Meals-Ready-To-Eat (MRE) products, which Ibrahim said is expect to increase sales by 15%, the report added. MRE rice meals are also reported to contribute to 40% of sales currently, with the rest of the sales coming from the MRE ready-to-cook sauce part of the business.

Ibrahim also addressed the impact potentially seen by the upcoming sales and service tax implementation in the country. He explained that the company is currently unsure of the consumer impact due to factors such as raw materials cost and exchange rate, due to some ingredients being imported.
