CleverTap names first VP of marketing for APAC

Customer engagement and retention platform CleverTap has appointed Julie Simon (pictured) as vice president of marketing for Asia Pacific. In this newly-created role, Simon will be responsible for leading all aspects of marketing for Asia Pacific, including go-to-market strategy, digital marketing, partner marketing, and branding and awareness programs. Her appointment is in line with CleverTap’s global expansion strategy, as it looks to fuel team growth across Asia, the US, Latin America, and Europe.

Simon has over 16 years of experience in the technology industries, having worked at various digital solutions companies. Prior to this appointment, she served as head of marketing Asia Pacific for enterprise software company Temenos. She also previously helmed the role of marketing director Asia Pacific at Quadient, and marketing manager Asia Pacific at Neopost. CleverTap said Simon offers extensive experience in exceeding organisational and sales objectives with a focus in Asia Pacific regions, as well as developing and driving scalable marketing plans that support the growth of businesses. Marketing has reached out to CleverTap for additional information.

Simon said she looks forward to joining CleverTap as it enters an “exciting stage of growth”. She aims to build a strong go-to-market strategy and implementing programmes that will help organisations with their engagement and retention initiatives.

Sunil Thomas, co-founder and CEO of CleverTap, said appointing a marketing executive with experience in Asia Pacific is vital for CleverTap’s global expansion stratgegy. “Simon has a proven record of setting up high-performing marketing teams, establishing a strong regional presence, and creating and executing programs that drive measurable, repeatable revenue streams. Just last month, CleverTap expanded its operations in Thailand. The expansion comes after it won three accounts, namely dining app Hungry Hub, service provider Seekster, and home furnishing retailer Index Living Mall. These three brands add on to its existing client, Gojek-backed app GET. Other brands CleverTap works with are Vodafone, Star, Sony, Discovery, Fandango LATAM, Carousell, and Gojek.
