Globe Tattoo, the mobile and wireless internet brand of Globe Telecoms, has opened nominations for this year’s Tatt Awards.
Running for the last three years, the Tatt Awards 2013 aims to create a benchmark by recognizing people who have made a dent in social media with remarkable content showing “Pinoy creativity, wit, and command for the medium.”
A sign of the rapid growth of social media, the categories have since increased from 10 to 13. The major ones are for “best of the year” titles for bloggers, trending tweets, YouTube (overall) and Instagram.
Other categories include best social media movement and best comedy and music content uploaded on YouTube. Five categories were saved for the blogging community -best style blogs, sports blogs, tech blogs, photo blogs and travel/food blogs.
In true social fashion, Globe Tattoo lets netizens choose the 13th category. A panel of judges called the Tatt Council will filter through the online recommendations and finalize the last category.
After pooling nominees from 19 April to 10 May, the Tatt Council will announce the shortlisted finalists on June 13. Seventy percent of the finalist’s scores will be from the council while the rest (30%) will be based on public votes.
Major category winners will win P100,000 in cash while regular awards will give out P50,000 in a grand awarding ceremony end-June.
This year’s 11-man Tatt Council is comprised of Tattoo Nomadic Broadband Business Head Dong Ronquillo; blog giants Yugatech.com‘s Abe Olandres and Our Awesome Planet‘s Anton Diaz; Mashable.com’s Bianca Consunji; songwriter Jim Paredes; international model Joey Mead-King; photographer BJ Pascual; sports analyst TJ Manotoc; comedian Mikey Bustos; celebrity Bianca Gonzales; and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa.
