NEST to host Hong Kong’s first investor Demo Day

Hong Kong investment incubator NEST will host Hong Kong’s first Investor Demo Day, offering select entrepreneurs the chance to meet investors in a closed forum event.

Working with venue sponsors KPMG and supported by prominent investor groups including the Hong Kong Business Angels Network, TiE HK, the Hong Kong Venture Capital Association and AngelVest in Shanghai, the event is part of a growing startup community backed by private enterprise and to a smaller extent the Hong Kong government.

At the event, 12 companies will be given five minutes each to convince a room of 100+ investors that their businesses are worth an early stage investment.

Breakout sessions will follow for investors to meet the founders in person and discuss opportunities in more detail.

All the companies invited to pitch at Demo Day are curated by NEST and already vetted for investment potential and readiness.

This event differs from the monthly NEST Pitch Days, where entrepreneurs are pitching exclusively to NEST’s partners and board of advisors for a place on NEST’s incubation programme.

Simon Squibb, CEO of NEST, said the idea is to connect entrepreneurs in Hong Kong with investors.

“We see a lot of entrepreneurs who can scale their businesses rapidly with the right resources and connections. Our extensive network of executives and investors are always looking to diversity their portfolios and many are keen to apply their expertise and mentor promising talent.

Benjamin Hall, co-founder of a NEST incubated business FoodieQuest – a competitively curated food photography game, said

“This is a great chance for me to demo my business to investors, especially as I come close to launching my app and need all the help I can get.
